The Limassol Carnival Parade is an annual carnival event which is held every year. This year it was on the 18th February. 12 days before the Christian season of Lent on the Sunday before Green Monday. Carnival season is one my favourite times of the year, everybody is singing and dancing, dressing up in cute and funny costumes, it really is just such a lively time of year.

Nowadays we use the carnival parades as an entertainment event but the festival actually goes back for hundreds of years. Back in 1566, Christophor Furkher Nirenberg visited Cyprus. In his records he mentions how he was so impressed by the carnival parades and told a story about how local noblemen organize amazing feasts, where people dance, sing and have fun. Sound familiar?

Anyways, on the final day of the festival which is the parade more than 150 floats and around 50,00 people take part in the parade! The walk is roughly 7 kilometers long which both kids and adults take part in. I haven't myself gone to walk the parade, I usually just prefer to watch it, but who knows maybe next year I'll actually take part. I also did an Instagram Story about my top 5 favourite costumes and floats this year so I thought it would be fun to do the same thing over here too.

5. The Flamingos

4. Jasmine and Aladdin

3. Beauty and The Beast

Number 2.

1. The Russian Dolls (Matryoshka doll)

I really liked this costume because of all the bright and beautiful colors there were. I also just love the concept of this group, and think it's really cute and original!

I hope you enjoyed this post!
